Hey, this is Antonio Arce the director of the DukeEngage Chile program for the summer of 2008. We have a great group of students participating with us for this pilot project and I can't wait to share the carino of Chile with all of you.
My father is from Santiago, Chile. My mom, from Wenatchee, WA. I grew up in Washington state, Alaska, went to college in California, then went to Chile for the first time to meet my family. Chile is now a profound part of my life and this program is much more than just an excursion to South America for me. It is deeply connected to my family, cross-cultural identity, and greatest memories.
I came to Duke many years ago as a graduate student in political science. I worked for Dean Thompson evaluating the undergraduate curriculum, and 1.5 years ago started working at the Duke Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
More later! cuidate, Antonio
